New promo piece drops for Chen Zhe Yuan/Zhang Jing Yi drama
The first trailer is out for upcoming Chinese historical mystery thriller Chasing Dreams (aka 梦花廷), and I would describe it as “epic”.
The Cdrama stars Chen Zhe Yuan (Fated Hearts), Zhang Jing Yi (Blossoms in Adversity), Lian Yong Qi (Perfect Match), and Lu Qi (Love in the Clouds), and tells the story of Princess Tilan of Xiangnan (played by Zhang Jing Yi) who, after a coup overthrows the monarchy, becomes a future-seeing prophet called the “Blind Songstress”.
She eventually meets General Tang Qianzi (Chen Zhe Yuan), and the pair become engaged, only to have their relationship threatened by Prince Zhongxu of Great Zheng, who is obsessed with Tilan.
Not because he’s in love with her, but because she looks almost identical to his late wife.

The first Chasing Dreams trailer
The just-released first Chasing Dreams trailer does a brilliant job of showing the epic nature of the story, with its emphasis on violent battles, mysterious assassination attempts, and beautifully shot romance.
From just that 2-minute footage alone then, we get the sense that Chasing Dreams, if not too stuck on the obsession the second male lead (played by Liang Yong Qi) has for Tilan, could be a fantastic watch.
(I hate stories about some dude-the-female-lead has no interest in not being able to take no for an answer, don’t you?)
The Chinese-language plot synopsis, however, makes Chasing Dreams sound more complicated than that:
Princess Tilan (Zhang Jing Yi) of the Xiangnan Kingdom is radiant and spirited, yearning for freedom. Having grown up in the royal palace, her tranquil life shatters overnight following a court rebellion. But, unexpectedly, she awakens the power to foresee the future as a “Blind Songstress.”
Around the same time, she meets the young general, Tang Qianzi (Chen Zhe Yuan). Originally arriving in the Xiangnan Kingdom as the guard of the Fourth Prince Jichang (Lu Qi) of the Dazheng Kingdom, he unexpectedly enters into a marriage contract with Tilan.
A powerful bond forms between them, and they recognize each other as soulmates. Meanwhile, the Second Prince Zhongxu (Liang Yong Qi) of the Dazheng Kingdom, after experiencing rebellion and the loss of his beloved, becomes obsessed with possessing Tilan due to her striking resemblance to his late consort, Zizan.
Amidst the chaos of the times and the flames of war, Tilan, as a Blind Songstress, possesses the power of foresight. Yet she strives with all her might to defy fate, sharing life and death with her beloved, and resisting the turbulent world to the very end.
Yep, with Chasing Dreams being a 40-episode sweeping epic, it does sound as though its plot may be quite a bit more interesting than an initial look suggests.
Chasing Dreams hits 500,000 reservations and it’s likely still months before it premieres
There is no word yet on when Chasing Dreams is scheduled to premiere, but the Chinese historical drama did wrap up its filming at the end of March, 2025.
With the drama on Tencent Video’s official list of 2026 series, and with it not a year yet since filming ended, that likely means we could be looking at a timeframe for the C-drama to release some time in early or mid-2026. Fingers crossed, eh?
Watch the official Chasing Dreams trailer (sorry, it doesn’t include English subtitles), and see what you think. I love it.
