A Dream Within a Dream hits 9,600 on iQIYI’s heat index – C-drama’s rating rising even higher on MDL

Just-ended C-drama A Dream Within a Dream is still performing incredibly well on iQIYI where, according to the Chinese streaming platform, it has just exceeded 9,6000 on their heat index.
A cool new visual featuring lead characters Song Yi Meng (played by Li Yi Tong) and Nan Heng (Liu Yu Ning) was released in celebration, with a message from the Chinese company thanking fans for watching.
And also reminding them “Don’t fall behind in chasing your dreams“.
A Dream Within a Dream‘s ratings rise even higher on MDL
The 40-episode historical romance parody ended its run yesterday, June 11th, 2025, and has since also seen its ratings rise further on My Drama List. The Asian drama-oriented platform where users are often quite ruthless when it comes to their scoring of dramas.
As of today then, A Dream Within a Dream has risen to a rating of 8.6 out of 10 — a high rating for users of that site — and also features hundreds, if not thousands, of positive comments about the Chinese drama, its director, writer and, of course, its superb cast of actors.

Chang Long who plays Nan Rui deserves some acting recognition! I’ve seen him in only one other drama, “The Rise of Phoenixes” and he basically played the same goofy character.
But I just rewatched the last A Dream Within a Dream episodes and was blown away by his Nan Rui in ep 35.
His portrayal of an utterly broken and betrayed Nan Rui was spectacular. Like excuse me, where did that emotional depth come from?! Never would’ve thought I would rewatch a Nan Rui scene over and over again.

We should really ratchet up (the) ratings to 9 because it’s outstanding and unique even in the time travel genre. This drama really did turn out to be a dream.
Clever, funny and action-packed.
The actors were all really enjoyable and the production was exceptional. Loved the soundtrack especially the various styles of music accompanying the fighting scenes in the last two episodes.
And, yes, I agree with every comment. And then some.
After all, A Dream Within a Dream was that drama I dropped after Episode 1 and then someone on My Drama List told me “No, keep watching until you get passed Episode 4 and you won’t be able to stop binge-watching”.
So, that’s what I did and, thus, ended up watching the best-written, best-acted, funniest, most-touching, most-satisfying Chinese drama of 2025 so bar. Bar none.
Every actor from the spectacular leads right down to the sidekicks, the brilliant villains and the person playing the smallest bit part is superb.
The writing is like nothing I’ve seen in a Chinese drama before, the directing is perfectly on point, and the soundtrack is beautiful.
And I obsessed over every episode and where the plot was heading so much, as someone who rarely re-watches any dramas, I will eventually be rewatching A Dream Within a Dream just to find all the hints I missed that led up to that utterly perfect ending.
All 40 episodes of A Dream Within a Dream are now streaming on iQIYI (if you’re not in Europe), with Viki streaming it in some regions (including Europe), but currently 10 episodes behind.
It is absolutely the best C-drama of 2025 so far, parody or not, and, if you miss it, you will regret it.
Congratulations to the cast, director, writer and staff of A Dream Within a Dream for hitting 9,6000 on the heat index on iQIYI.
This drama, though, deserves even more.
