We finally have confirmation of the main cast of the upcoming tvN mystery comedy drama Shin’s Project, and it’s a good one.
That cast is Han Seok Kyu (Dr. Romantic) as President Shin, Bae Hyeon Seong (Family By Choice) as Jo Pil Ip, and Lee Re (Castaway Diva) as Lee Si On.
The Korean drama is set to run for 12 episodes on tvN, with a premiere some time later in 2025.
The Shin’s Project plot
As for the plot of the comedy series, it follows Mr. Shin (Han Seok Kyu), a chicken restaurant owner, who is renowned for being a neighborhood grievance solver and negotiator.
His delivery driver Lee Si On (Lee Re) is the breadwinner of the family for her grandmother and younger sister. She has worked for Mr. Shin for three years, and is also the person who tells Mr. Shin everything that is going on in the neighborhood so he can go about solving people’s problems.
Lee Si On is also in school at night, so is a hard worker as well as a sort of spy.
Then along comes Jo Pil Ip (Bae Hyeon Seong), a man who has worked hard his whole life just so he can be in first place. Now, as a rookie judge who does everything by-the-book, he suddenly finds himself working at Mr. Shin’s chicken restaurant as his dreams of getting a proper judgeship seem to be drifting away by the day.
All three soon find themselves working together to help improve the lives of people in their neighborhood.
Yep, this one sounds like a heart-warming, feel good drama, doesn’t it?
The main cast’s previous roles
If you have been watching Korean dramas for any length of time, you will know all three cast members from some of the best K-dramas released in the last few years.
Han Seok Ku, of course, is renowned for his role as surgeon Kim Sa Bu in three seasons of Dr. Romantic. He has also starred in such awesome dramas as last year’s Doubt, as well as in Recipe for Farewell, and Watcher.
The now 60-year-old actor has also had an extensive career in films, starring in movies such as Forbidden Dream, Idol, The Prison and The Royal Tailor.
26-year-old Bae Hyeon Seong has not been in the entertainment business as long as his senior, of course, but in the seven years since he debuted in a guest role in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? has already starred in K-dramas like Love Playlist (two seasons), Our Blues, Dear M., Gaus Electronics, Miraculous Brothers, and last year’s Family By Choice.
And then there is Lee Ri who, at still only 19-years-old, has been appearing in Korean dramas for 13 years, since her supporting role in Goodbye Dear Wife as a child actress in 2012.
In the last few years, Lee Ri has starred in Hello, Me!, while also playing supporting roles in Memories of the Alhambra, Hometown, Hellbound (Seasons 1 and 2), and Castaway Diva.
In other words, with this much experience between the three of them, my bet is the chemistry between the main characters in Shin’s Project will be amazing.
