Exhuma hits 11 million admissions – now 20th highest-grossing domestic film of all time

Exhuma passes 11 million admissions mark in first 40 days of release
The South Korean horror film Exhuma just keeps racking up those ticket sales, with the Korean Film Council announcing earlier today the hit movie has now passed the 11 million admissions mark.
The official figure currently stands at 11,003,304 moviegoers.
That means the supernatural horror film hit the 11 million mark in the first 40 days of its release, and has earned almost $100 million at the box office so ar.
Last weekend was also a particularly good weekend for the Korean horror film, as it regained its #1 position at the South Korean box office, despite having strong competition like Legendary Pictures’ monster film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the Korean crime film Troll Factory.
Exhuma four days behind 12.12: The Day‘s record
Exhuma was, however, slower to climb to 11 million moviegoers than its somewhat rival 12.12: The Day, as that film pulled that milestone off in just 36 days.
Again, though, considering Exhuma was the first Korean horror film to ever hit 10 million moviegoers and now, just days later, it has made it to 11 million is an astounding feat in itself.
Meanwhile, 12.12: The Day is now the 6th highest-grossing domestic film of all time by admissions, while Exhuma has just pushed Bong Joon Ho’s 2006 monster film The Host out of the 20th spot, and is already catching up fast to the 2003 action film Silmido, which earned 11,074,000 admissions, in 19th place.
Exhuma stars Choi Min Sik, Yoo Hae Jin, Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun.
Three of whom posed alongside the film’s director Jang Jae Hyun and a life-size cardboard cutout of Lee Do Hyun for a “Thank you” photo this week (see above) as Exhuma hit 11 million admissions.
Lee Do Hyun, of course, is likely off somewhere filming.
