Never-before-seen-scenes from the popular crowd-funded anime movie In This Corner of the World Extended Edition were revealed today in some new stills from the upcoming 150-minute version of the hit film.
The In This Corner Of The World Extended Edition stills appeared on the Twitter account for the movie, and show Teru, a new character not seen in the original 2016 release of the film.
The extended version of the film, aka the director’s cut, is the movie director Sunao Katabuchi wanted to release back when the original film was being made.
As the money raised from crowd-funding the movie began to run out, however, he ended up having to release a film that, while still beautiful, was not what he intended the film to ultimately be.
Since its release In This Corner of the World has made more than 2.5 billion yen at the box office in Japan and overseas.
Money that has allowed Sunao Katabuchi to revisit the film, and add an extra 30-minutes of content.
That content will look more closely at the relationship between Rin, Shusaku and Suzu.
The extended edition of the film will be in theaters from December 20th, 2019 under the title Kono Sekai no (Sarani Ikutsumono) Katasumi ni/In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World.

The original release was nominated for or won a whole slew of awards around the world, so you can pretty much guarantee its Extended Edition is likely to be a big hit too.
