If you are watching the ongoing Korean fantasy murder mystery drama My Perfect Stranger, you are probably not too surprised that much of the music on its soundtrack is either 1980s-style tracks or Korean songs that were released closer to that era.
Songs like the track playing at the end of My Perfect Stranger, Episode 1 as Yoon Hae Joon (played by Kim Dong Wook) finds Baek Yoon Young (Jin Ki Joo), drags her down an alley and tells her they are both now stuck in 1987 as the time machine (car) was partially destroyed when he hit her.
Yoon Young begins to laugh uncontrollably, and that is when the episode ends.
With the cool sounding 1980s-style song playing over the end credits.
What is the song playing over the end credits of My Perfect Stranger, Episode 1?
That song is called ‘You Got a Minute?‘ by Ha Hyun Woo (listen below), and is a track specifically written for the My Perfect Stranger soundtrack.
The track was released on May 2nd on the My Perfect Stranger OST, Part 1 along with an instrumental version of the song.
‘You Got a Minute?‘ also comes with an official music video, which features both of the drama’s leads — Kim Dong Wook and Jin Ki Joo — in various scenes from the first episode, culminating in the scene where Hae Joon is about to hit Yoon Young with the time machine.
The Korean title for ‘You Got a Minute?‘ by Ha Hyun Woo, by the way, translates to ‘Listen to Me’, so the English title has a slightly different meaning.
The song itself is a perfect showcase for Ha Hyun Woo’s superb vocal range, and a track that sounds very much like it belongs in the late 1980s.
As for the musician himself, while a talented solo singer in his own right, Ha Hyun Woo is also known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the South Korean rock band Guckkasten.
He has also contributed soundtrack songs to other K-dramas like Itaewon Class and Legend of the Blue Sea, and even contributed a very cool song with an incredible guitar performance to one of this year’s best dramas — Divorce Attorney Shin.
