Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai’ music video does a lovely job illustrating the hope Delicious in Dungeon portrays

Almost 10 days after the Japanese all-girl rock band Regal Lily released their latest single — the Delicious in Dungeon, Cour 2 ending theme song and one helluva banger — Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai‘ (aka ‘Twinkling Ash‘) — we now have an official music video for the song.
A music video for a song that I have had on repeat several times a day since it appeared on Spotify on April 4th.
A song that is easily the best of the four Delicious in Dungeon theme songs, as both its music and lyrics illustrate beautifully the hope we all feel as we watch the hit anime series.
Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai‘ music video is another lovely piece from the superb indie rock band
Like most of the indie rock band’s music videos, the Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai‘ music video also doesn’t disappoint as it depicts a boy trapped in what appears to be a basement (a metaphor for a dungeon?) that is made up of a never-ending series of doors.
The boy is wearing a necklace featuring a star, which he looks at longingly, before he places it back beneath his shirt.
As the boy traverses through door after door, he comes across an old man who first walks with him, then dances, then eats meals with him, then sleeps, then finds treasure chests, all with the intention of communicating to us the viewer that the boy has been trapped in the ever-repeating space for a long time.
The boy finally finds the key to the door he couldn’t open before and rushes back through all the doors, passing Regal Lily several times as they perform the rocking track, and eventually meeting the old man again and taking him with him.
But, when he reaches the door and opens it, the man looks sad and waves Goodbye. As the boy leaves, the man looks down at his own star, which is hanging around his neck.

Because sometimes, while one person is able to achieve their dreams as they never stop hoping they can, another doesn’t have the courage and so cannot.
As bassist Umi explains on the anime’s official website about the song she helped created:
Since the anime began airing, I’ve looked forward to the adventures of the four and their monster meals every week. I especially love the scenes where Laios and Marcille talk about Farin, as their expressions and episodes show just how important she is to them.
I imagine that throughout their long adventure, there were days when they thought of Farin, regretted things and questioned themselves, but somehow managed to motivate themselves and keep going.
I wanted to capture in a song the sparkle of those moments when they could look forward because they had good food and friends, even in the midst of harsh days.
Personally, I would say she/Regal Lily did that.
