Fans of the wonderful anime film Penguin Highway may want to head over to Yen Press and pre-order the manga that will be out in a couple of months.
The Penguin Highway manga is based on the light novel series written by Tomihiko Morimi.
The manga series is written by the novel’s author, and illustrated by Keito Yano and, while it originally came out in Japanese in three volumes, the Penguin Highway manga English translation will be out in a one volume omnibus edition of almost 500 pages later this year.
Considering the price they are charging for the huge edition, it’s a helluva good deal as well.
Yen Press explains the wonderful coming-of-age story that is Penguin Highway in this way:
One day, penguins are spotted in the suburban town that fourth-grader Aoyama calls home. The penguins make their sudden appearance in a residential district—nowhere near the ocean—and disappear just as mysteriously.
Where could they have come from, and where did they go?
Aoyama is determined to get to the bottom of it! This is the slightly curious, unforgettable tale of that summer.
The Penguin Highway manga is up for pre-order now via Yen Press, at the very affordable price of $30 for the three-volumes-in-one print version.
You can also grab its digital version for an even cheaper $12.99.
The Penguin Highway manga itself will officially publish on June 18th, 2024.
The Penguin Highway anime film
The anime film adapted from the popular light novel series by Studio Colorido was released in March, 2018, and then came out on DVD and Blu-ray in August, 2019.
Depending on where you live, you can currently watch Penguin Highway either on Crunchyroll or Amazon Prime Video, or you can buy it on Blu-ray on Amazon for under $15.
I’d suggest the latter as, for less than four times the cost of renting it, you can own a physical copy.
Something I bought back in 2021 and, since then, have watched at least six times — more than getting my money’s worth in the process.
