While the Korean comedy romance drama Dare to Love Me struggled in the ratings throughout its eight-week run, it did manage to end its run in South Korea on Tuesday night with a ratings rise.
That rise, according to Nielsen Korea, ended up with the Dare to Love Me, Episode 16 ratings nationwide climbing to 1.4 percent for the K-drama’s series finale last night.
That was a 0.40 percent rise versus its penultimate episode the night before.
Not one of the highest ratings in its 16-episode run, but at least allowing the drama to end on a more solid note than many of its previous 10 episodes.
International viewers’ positive comments bely the low ratings
The Korean rom-com did not fare any better with international viewers ratings-wise, who are currently rating it a low 7.4 out of 10 on that infamous Asian drama-focused website.
However, when you read the comments from viewers who have just finished watching its final episode, oddly, they are overwhelmingly in support of the drama calling it “sweet”, “unique” and “cute”, and enjoying the chemistry between main leads Kim Myung Soo and Lee Yoo Young.
That leads me to believe the low ratings could be due to yet another troll attack by some immature users who, as you can see by the history of the ratings on the site, had already rated it a low 7.5 right after the first episode aired.
Over on Viki, where the K-drama is streaming, Dare to Love Me is also receiving a very solid 8.7 out of 10.
In other words, you may just want to ignore the ratings and watch it for yourself. I did, and I enjoyed it.
