Wonderful World, Ep 1 earns similar ratings as The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract
The new MBC drama Wonderful World, Episode 1 premiered in South Korea last night to very solid ratings for a first episode.
According to Nielsen Korea, the Wonderful World, Episode 1 ratings were 5.3 percent nationwide, and 5.4 percent in Seoul.
The new K-drama aired in the same time slot as the just finished Knight Flower, with ratings that were slightly lower than that hit drama’s first ratings (7.9 percent and 7.7 percent).
Wonderful World‘s ratings, however, were almost the same as The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (5.6 percent and 5.3 percent), which also aired in the same MBC time slot.
The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract went on to earn consistently higher ratings as the series progressed, which could easily happen to Wonderful World as it seems to have attracted a solid audience so far.
Then again, it does star the wonderful Cha Eun Woo, so is anyone surprised?
What is Wonderful World about?
The Korean drama stars Kim Nam Joo in her first drama since Misty in 2018, alongside Cha Eun Woo (A Good Day to Be a Dog), Kim Kang Woo (The Childe), and Im Se Mi (The Worst of Evil).
It follows a mother Eun Soo Hyun (Kim Nam Joo), who is both a psychology professor and a famous writer, and whose young son dies unjustly.
The already tragic situation is made worse when the person responsible for his death does not receive any legal punishment.
It is at that point, Eun Soo Hyun decides to punish the person responsible for her son’s death herself, but things don’t turn out exactly as she expected.
The 14-episode Wonderful World airs every Friday and Saturday on MBC in South Korea at 21:50 (KST).
Disney Plus is streaming the mystery thriller in select regions, with Episode 2 arriving later on today.
