In the first two episodes of the Korean drama Divorce Attorney Shin already introduced viewers to a couple of Korean trot songs that are absolutely superb. (listen here and here)
Now, this weekend, as we start to learn something about attorney Shin Sung Han’s former career as a classical pianist, one of classical music’s most famous piano concertos was played at the end of Divorce Attorney Shin, Episode 3.
That concerto is Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488 II. Andante. performed by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and is part of a concerto for piano and orchestra that was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in March, 1786.
It is one of 27 piano concertos the Austrian composer wrote.
Concertos that, to this day, are thought of as some of the most beautiful classical music ever written.
Astounding considering just how prolific Mozart was, and even more astonishing when you realize he began composing music when he was just 5-years-old, and wrote a phenomenal number of pieces (more than 800) before his early death in Vienna at the age of just 35 in 1791.
Music just like Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488 II. Andante that still enthrals audiences almost 250 years after it was first composed.
On Divorce Attorney Shin, Episode 3, it was the classical piece Shin Sung Han’s sister played, and the same piece that is playing as he is in bed having a nightmare about her.
