The Heavenly Idol E12 ratings fell nationwide in Korea but rose in Seoul – series finale ends with muted audience response

As I said yesterday, I cannot understand the lackluster reaction to the fantasy romance drama The Heavenly Idol because, as K-dramas go, the show is pretty entertaining.
But, just like has occurred from Episode 3 of the just-ended show when ratings for the drama began to fall in Korea, last night’s The Heavenly Idol, Episode 12 ratings did not see the bump I was hoping the series finale would earn.
Instead, the just-released Nielsen Korea numbers show The Heavenly Idol, Episode 12 ratings actually fell in Korea nationwide from the previous episode’s 1.7 percent audience share to last night’s 1.5 percent.
A decrease of .2 percent, and a rating that placed the show in 4th place in its time slot.
In Seoul, however, The Heavenly Idol, Episode 12 ratings fared quite a bit better, with the Seoul audience for the drama increasing from the previous episode’s 1.6 percent audience share to Episode 12’s rating of 1.9 percent.
In the average ratings for the entire season of The Heavenly Idol then, nationwide in Seoul the drama earned 1.8 percent of the national audience.
In Seoul, the show had an average of almost 2.1 percent over 12 shows.
Outside Korea, however, the drama seems to be doing quite a bit better.
On Viki, where international audiences can watch The Heavenly Idol in select regions, it is earning a very high 9.3 out of 10 points. Even on My Drama List, viewers have rated it a solid 8 out of 10.
The Heavenly Idol stars Kim Min Kyu and Go Bo Gyeol. If you like a cute and funny fantasy romance, despite its not-so-great ratings in Korea, I still recommend it
