Shin’s Project Ep 12 ratings fall – surprising result for finale of one of this season’s best Kdramas

Final episode of Shin’s Project sees a surprising ratings drop

Nielsen Korea has just released its latest data for viewership of all shows airing on South Korean TV on October 28th and, surprisingly, the ratings for last night’s final episode of tvN drama Shin’s Project (Episode 12) are not what I expected.

That’s because Nielsen is reporting Shin’s Project, Episode 12 saw a nationwide ratings fall from its previous episode, dropping from the K-drama’s all-time high of 9.12 percent to Tuesday’s night’s 8.60 percent.

Not an enormous fall, of course, but a fall I would not have predicted considering the Korean drama just experienced the biggest ratings jump of its run with Episode 11.

The Korean drama also saw a similar fall from audiences in Seoul, as it dropped from Monday night’s all-time high of 8.81 percent in that region to last night’s 8.04 percent.

Again, still an excellent rating. Just one that is slightly disappointing since I, and many other Shin’s Project fans, would have loved to see the Korean drama go out on an all-time high.

Final international viewer ratings after Shin’s Project, Episode 12 airs

Of course, don’t expect the oft-disgruntled users of Asian-focused website MDL to be giving the final episode of the tvN drama a huge boost in that website’s ratings either.

Nope. As usual with the number of trolls using the site, the rating for Shin’s Project is still stuck at a stupidly low 7.9 out of 10

That is only a paltry 0.10 percent increase after Episode 12 aired from the 7.8 out of 10 it has been stuck at since the Korean drama premiered on September 15th.

As you would expect, IMDB — a once useful site, but one that is now populated by mainly trolls nowadays — is rating Shin’s Project an even more insulting 7.3 out of 10.

In other words, and like I always warn, NEVER make your decisions about watching a K-drama on ratings from any of these sites as, overall, their ratings are not trustworthy as they are not closely monitored for authenticity.

I also say that about K-dramas that have suspiciously high ratings on these sites, as that is often nothing more than the drama starring a famous idol and his/her fans overwhelming the ratings with their bias.

A second season of Shin’s Project?

Meanwhile, Shin’s Project itself was so well-received in South Korea throughout its run, there is now talk of a Season 2 possibly being produced with the production team also confirming this is a possibility.

Well, you did notice that mention of a Mr. Shin’s Project TF Team being formed in the K-drama’s final episode, didn’t you?

We will keep you posted here at Baozi Buns as more information about that possibility drops. But, color me psyched.

Shin’s Project stars what I think is one of the best trio of actors with actual chemistry with each other —  Han Suk Kyu, Bae Hyun Sung, and Lee Re.

Unfortunately, for most people in the west, and due to tvN’s poor licensing efforts it seems, the Korean black comedy is still only available to watch on dodgy sites.
