The new Korean romantic comedy Queen of Tears, Episode 1 kicked off the series last night on tvN in South Korea to very strong ratings.

Ratings that were stronger than those earned by its predecessor Captivating the King, the drama that aired on tvN in the same time slot up until last weekend.

According to the latest data from Nielsen Korea, Queen of Tears, Episode 1 earned 5.85 percent in the nationwide ratings.

That is higher than the very successful drama Captivating the King earned for its first episode (3.97 percent).

In Seoul, the new tvN rom-com performed even better — grabbing 6.49 percent of the audience share compared to Captivating the King‘s 4.07 percent.

Both ratings placed it in the #1 spot in its time slot.

In other words, Queen of Tears got off to an excellent start last night, so let’s see how its second episode performs tonight.
