Parasyte: The Grey hits Netflix #1 with HUGE number of hours viewed in just 3 days

Parasyte: the Grey annihilates its closest rival on Netflix with hours viewed

As was reported by Flix Patrol earlier in the week it has now been confirmed by Netflix that, yes, the new Korean sci-fi drama Parasyte: The Grey has bumped Queen of Tears out of the #1 spot on Netflix.

According to Netflix via its Tudum platform, Parasyte: The Grey made it to #1 on the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart due to being viewed 6.3 million times for a total of 31.5 million hours worldwide — for the week April 1st through April 7th, 2024.

That is a HUGE number of hours considering its closest rival, Queen of Tears, has been viewed 53.7 million hours — in the five weeks since it was released — while Parasyte: The Grey had only been on the platform for three days when it was watched for that enormous number of hours.

That huge number of hours and times viewed also allowed Parasyte: The Grey to easily bump Queen of Tears off the Netflix top spot.

Parasyte: The Grey in Top 10 in a huge number of countries

Netflix also confirmed Parasyte: The Grey was in the Top 10 last week in 68 countries.

Those countries included Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Japan, India, Vietnam, the UAE, New Zealand and, of course, the K-drama’s home country of South Korea.

Meanwhile, the massively popular romantic drama Queen of Tears was still in the Top 10 in 40 countries. So it’s not doing a shabby job itself.

Parasyte: The Grey is a live-action spin-off of the cult classic manga series Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki.

The K-drama stars Jeon So Nee, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Lee Jung Hyun.

It premiered on Netflix on April 5th, 2024.

Fans are now waiting to see if a second season of the sci-fi horror K-drama will be produced as, according to director Yeon Sang Ho, it is up to Netflix whether it happens or not.
