My Demon Ep 1 earns solid ratings in Korea – high ratings on IMDB from international viewers

The new Korean romantic comedy drama My Demon, Episode 1 aired on SBS TV in South Korea last night to solid ratings.
According to Nielsen Korea’s latest data, My Demon, Episode 1 earned 4.5 percent of the nationwide audience share, making it the 11th most-watched TV show on Korean TV on Friday.
In Seoul, the new K-drama performed slightly better, earning 5.1 percent of the audience, which put it in 8th place on Korean TV in that region for the day.
The drama’s first episode “Living in the Mist” was also released on Netflix, but hours watched and viewer numbers for their Top 10 Most-Watched Non-English TV Shows will not be available from the streaming platform until Tuesday.
Meanwhile the drama is already being rated on IMDB, with current users rating it a 9.4 out of 10.
What is the plot of My Demon and who stars in it?
My Demon stars Kim Yoo-jung (Lovers of the Red Sky), Song Kang (Nevertheless), Lee Sang Yi (Hometown Cha Cha Cha), and Kim Hae Sook (Strong Girl Nam Soon).
It tells the story of the immortal demon Jung Koo Won (played by Song Kang), who lives through the centuries by making deals with humans.
Problems emerge for Jung Koo Won, however, when he makes a deal with Do Do Hee (Kim Yoo Jung), the spoilt, arrogant successor of the Future Group and a woman who, when she accepted the demon’s deal, apparently took away his powers at the same time.
And a woman who may just be a bigger demon than Jung Koo Won himself.
My Demon is airing on SBS TV every Friday and Saturday evening at 22:00 (KST), with Netflix streaming new episodes around the same time.
Just one episode in, but this one was extremely enjoyable, with beautiful cinematography and costumes, a fun plot and excellent performances from the main leads who, by the way, have some amazing chemistry.
Let’s see how its ratings fare when its second episode drops later on today then, right?
