The 51-episode weekend K-drama Live Your Own Life, Episode 51 aired on KBS2 last night, and ended the long-running series on its second highest rating ever.
According to Nielsen Korea, Live Your Own Life, Episode 51 grabbed a huge 22.0 percent of the audience share nationwide for the drama’s series finale.
That rating is its second highest ever, falling only very slightly behind the K-drama’s highest rating of 22.1 percent, which it earned for Episodes 39, 47 and 49.
Last night’s high rating also helped give the Uee-led drama a nationwide average of 17.69 percent for each episode of its run.
In Seoul, Episode 51 of Live Your Own Life was also only slightly below the K-drama’s highest ever rating in that region, earning 20.0 percent of the viewership, which is only a teeny tiny bit less than its all-time high of 20.3 percent (Episode 39).
International viewers and Live Your Own Life
Outside South Korea, however, the KBS2 drama did not fare as well with viewers personal ratings, as it ended with a low 7.4 out of 10 on IMDB, and an equally low 7.4 out of 10 on My Drama List.
On Viki, where it is streaming internationally, the Korean drama ended its run with an 8.4 out of 10, which is one of the lower ratings for dramas on that platform.
That being said, it is sometimes the case that very long weekend dramas (50 episodes-plus) are downrated by international viewers, many of whom (especially westerners) seem to have less patience than South Koreans when it comes to watching a long series.
Live Your Own Life ends as 23rd most-watched TV series
Meanwhile, according to Nielsen Korea, which only began releasing the number of viewers a TV show earned in 2018, Live Your Own Life also ended its run as the 23rd most-watched TV series in South Korea since then.
The Korean drama also won several awards at the KBS Drama Awards, including Ha Jun winning the Excellence Award, Actor in a Serial Drama, Ha Jun and Uee winning the Best Couple Award, and Uee being awarded the Popularity Award, Actor.
Uee also received the Top Excellence Award, Actress in a Serial Drama.
