Korean film Believer 2 still in Top 3 on Netflix Most-Watched Non-English films chart for 2nd week

The South Korean action crime movie Believer was a hit on Netflix when it premiered on the streaming service back in 2018.
So it should probably not be any surprise that its sequel Believer 2 is still trending on Netflix almost two weeks after it first released.
Not only that, Believer 2 — which premiered on Netflix on November 17th this year — almost immediately made it to the #1 spot on the Netflix Most-Watched Non-English Films chart the week it released.
Now last week, the second week of Believer 2‘s release on Netflix, the crime thriller is still in the Top 3, having only dropped from #1 to #2.
According to Netflix, even with that small drop, Believer 2 was watched 6.4 million times last week alone, for a total of 12.3 million hours viewed.
The film is also in the Top 10 most-watched films in 35 different countries.
What is Believer 2?
The new crime thriller is the sequel to 2018 film Believer (aka 독전 in Korean), and was directed by Lee Hae Young (The Silenced).
It again stars Cho Jin Woong, alongside Cha Seung Won, Han Hyo Joo, Oh Seung Hoon, Kim Dong Young, and Lee Joo Young, and again follows Detective Won Ho (played by Cho Jin Woong) as he continues to go after an elusive drug cartel.
Critically the film is not getting the best reviews with some critics complaining about its “excessive violence.
But, as film critics mean little in the grand scheme of things, with its success on the platform it appears few Netflix users are paying any attention to them.
With Believer 2 now streaming via Netflix and, with it still holding a strong #2 position on the Most-Watched chart two weeks into its run on the platform, it will be interesting to see how it performs next week as well.
