Kim So Yeon back after a 2-year absence?
If South Korean entertainment media is correct, and I have to admit they usually are, actress Kim So Yeon may soon be returning to the small screen after a two year absence, as she is reportedly in talks to headline JTBC drama Rediscovery of Love (working title).
According to reports, the series is being developed as a romance story centered on themes of love, separation, and rediscovery.
While plot details about the K-drama have yet to be confirmed, the title change from an earlier title suggesting divorce to one focused on rekindled love seems to hint at an emotional narrative about second chances and personal growth.
I’m always on board for that, aren’t you?
I will also add, considering Kim So Yeon and two of her three co-stars in 2024’s A Virtuous Business proved K-dramas helmed by older women can be remarkably successful, if she does end up starring in Rediscovery of Love, my bet would be on the side of ‘big success’, wouldn’t yours?
Kim So Yeon’s career up until now
If Kim So Yeon accepts the offer, the drama would mark her first television project in approximately two years as we haven’t seen anything from her in K-drama land since the aforementioned A Virtuous Business aired its final episode.
She is said to be considering the female lead role, signaling what could be a major comeback for the veteran actress.
Known for her versatility, Kim has built a strong reputation through a wide range of roles across genres that include romantic dramas like Prosecutor Princess and I Need Romance 3, to her intense, scene-stealing performance as Cheon Seo Jin in The Penthouse trilogy.
More recently, the now-45-year-old actress has earned praise for her roles as Ryu Hong Ju in Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 and as Han Jeong Suk in the JTBC series A Virtuous Business, further solidifying her standing as one of Korea’s most reliable leading actresses.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Rediscovery of Love is reportedly targeting a release later in 2026, though scheduling and casting details are still under discussion.
Let’s see how it plays out then, eh?
