Jang Ki Yong completes military service – starring in K-drama Although I Am Not a Hero?

According to his agency YG Entertainment, South Korean actor Jang Ki Yong has just completed his military service, after serving a mandatory 18 months as a soldier in the Korean army.
Several photos were released of the actor in full military uniform after he was officially discharged from the military today, February 22nd, 2023.
It has also been confirmed via Korean news media that Jang Ki Yong had already renewed his contract with YG Entertainment before he enlisted in the military, and plans to continue to have the entertainment agency represent him now he has returned to civilian life.
His agency also responded to the 30-year-old actor’s discharge from the Korean military with the statement:
We promise to give full support to Jang Ki-yong as both an actor and a partner, and we plan to accelerate support for his return to acting immediately.
Jang Ki Yong, of course, is well-known as both a model and actor.
He debuted as an actor in 2014 in the K-drama It’s Okay That’s Love, and has since had supporting roles in dramas like Best Wedding, My Love Eun Dong, We Broke Up, A Beautiful Mind, My Mister and The Liar and His Lover.
Main roles started coming his way after he played the role of Sung Ji Jae in The Boy Next Door, which was soon followed with lead roles in Come and Hug Me, Kill It, Search: WWW, Born Again and My Roommate is a Gumiho.
Jang Ki Yong’s last lead role before enlisting for the Korean army was as Yoon Jae Guk in Now, We Are Breaking Up.
A drama that was panned by most fans as “poorly written” and “boring”, and one that currently holds one of the lowest ratings on My Drama List.
Hopefully, now that Jang Ki Yong has completed military service, we can now look forward to a new drama of the high caliber we are used to seeing him act in.
The South Korean actor’s latest project is said to be as the male lead in Although I Am Not a Hero. An upcoming K-drama about a family of supernatural beings who lose their power, and an offer he is currently reviewing.
