I have got to say, as C-drama stills that show off how pretty an upcoming series is likely to be, they don’t get much nicer than the just released Transfer Gold Hairpin stills.
Especially if you like a Chinese drama full of beautiful women in gorgeous costumes.
The first six Transfer Gold Hairpin stills feature leads Tian Xi Wei and Yan An, alongside most of the large female cast, which includes Shirley Dai, Kong Lin, Dai Chun Rong, Pan Jun Ya, Wang Yi Ren, Estelle Chen, Cui Yi and Su Qi.

The first batch of stills from the upcoming historical romance drama were released by YOUKU this morning via their social media accounts, with a message about the plot and confirmation of the director, screenwriter, art director and costume designer.
All of whom seem to have done a great job if the stills are indicative of what we can expect:
#Transfer Gold Hairpin First Look Photos
Here are the first batch of stills! Telling stories through their eyes, carving a new path within the intricate plot. Is it a desperate fight or careful maneuvering? Is it irreconcilable conflict or a hidden agenda?
The truth will be revealed!
- Director: Yang Long (The Glory)
- Screenwriter: Zhou Mo (Money is Coming)
- Art Director: Wang Yifan
- Costume Designer: Fang Sizhe (The Journey of Legend)
YOUKU then reminded Chinese drama fans Transfer Gold Hairpin is now up for pre-order.

What’s the Transfer Gold Hairpin plot?
The C-drama is adapted from the novel “The Golden Hairpin” by Xiao Jiaren, which was published on Jinjiang Literature City.
Filming began on December 12th, 2025 and is likely to run for at least three months. That means there is a distinct possibility it will be at least the first quarter in 2027 before the Chinese drama premieres on YOUKU.

As plots go, this one looks interesting, as it features one of my favorite tropes — dirt poor girl who rises up in society to become incredibly successful:
A Chou (played by Tian Xiwei), originally a low-status girl who collected night soil on the streets, is trampled upon and bullied by everyone. However, due to her striking resemblance to Wei Rao (played by Jun Dai), the daughter of a marquis, she unexpectedly became the bride of Lu Zhuo, the heir of the Duke’s mansion, in a marriage arranged to bring him good fortune.
Ambitious and determined to climb the social ladder, A Chou’s plans are complicated when her seemingly dying husband suddenly recovers. Her usurpation of Wei Rao’s place leads to a series of misfortunes. Wei Rao hates her for stealing her position and is eager to get rid of her; Lu Zhuo believes her to be a wicked woman and is constantly wary of her schemes.
While the Duke’s mansion appears harmonious on the surface, it is actually full of traps and hidden dangers. A Chou, through careful planning and cunning strategies, wins her husband’s deep affection, uncovers the secret of her own origins, and is finally reunited with her family.
From a low-ranking night soil collector, she rises to a position of great prominence, living a brilliant and prosperous life.
Yep, that’s absolutely up my alley, with the C-drama immediately going on my ‘Plan to Watch’ list as I am a complete sucker for a rags-to-riches story, aren’t you?
Enjoy the stills, and we’ll be back with the just-released character posters in a couple of hours.
