After a solid start for new drama Doctor Slump last night, but with ratings lower than its predecessor Welcome to Samdalri’s first episode, Episode 2 aired on JTBC in South Korea earlier tonight to higher ratings.
Data via Nielsen Korea shows Doctor Slump, Episode 2 earned 5.13 percent of the audience share nationwide, which is a very nice increase from Episode 1’s rating of 4.06 percent, and almost as high as Welcome to Samdalri earned (5.27 percent) for its second episode.
In other words, yes, Doctor Slump has almost caught up.
The Korean drama also experienced a similar ratings jump in Seoul, where Episode 2 grabbed 5.86 percent of the viewership after scoring 4.76 percent for Episode 1.
Considering Doctor Slump is now in Welcome to Samdalri territory ratings-wise after just two episodes, it is safe to say if it continues it could end up as big of a hit as that drama became by the time its 16 episodes ended.
International viewers rating Doctor Slump
While it is too early to see how Doctor Slump is performing on Netflix after Episode 2, as that official data will not be released until Tuesday, Flix Patrol is showing the romantic comedy drama was in the Top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix in 48 countries yesterday after just one episode was released.
International viewers are also rating the Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye-led K-drama a solid 8.4 out of 10 on My Drama List currently, although IMDB users are scoring it a lower 7.9 out of 10.
With 14 episodes left to air, of course, a lot can happen between now and the Doctor Slump finale but, after Episode 2 aired tonight at least, things look very promising indeed.
The next episode of Doctor Slump will premiere next Saturday, February 3rd at 22:30 (KST) on JTBC, with international viewers able to watch it via Netflix.
