Go Soo returning to K-dramas in a romance role?
South Korean actor Go Soo (Parole Examiner Lee) could be returning to the small screen with a new romance project.
According to recent news reports out of South Korea, the veteran star is currently in talks to appear in the upcoming SBS drama Nine to Six.
In response, Go Soo’s agency BH Entertainment confirmed that the actor is “positively reviewing” the offer, signaling strong potential for his involvement.
If he accepts, the drama would mark another notable addition to an already very diverse television portfolio that includes the aforementioned Parole Examiner Lee, both seasons of Missing: The Other Side, Money Game and Heart Surgeons.
The plot of Nine to Six
Nine to Six is described as an office romance centered on a career-driven woman who has long prioritized work over love.
Her outlook begins to change after she meets a warm and considerate man, and the two gradually grow together in both their personal and professional lives.
If confirmed, Go Soo will play Park Hyun Tae, the polished and intelligent head of Zeus Motors’ U.S. headquarters. The character is portrayed as a gentleman who believes he is more comfortable living alone, until meeting Kang Yi Ji begins to shift his perspective.
The series is based on the popular 2021 Chinese drama The Rational Life, which starred Dylan Wang (aka Wang Hedi) and Qin Lan, and is expected to air on SBS.
In that version, there was an almost 20-year age gap between the two main leads, with the female lead being the older person in the relationship.
In the South Korean adaptation, however, it appears that may not be the case as almost-40-year-old Park Min Young is reportedly in talks to play the female lead against Go Soo, who is 47.
Yook Sung Jae is also reportedly in talks to star in the K-drama.
The project is set to be directed by Lee Hyung Min, known for hits such as Miss Night and Day and Chocolate, raising anticipation among K-drama fans.
With its workplace romance premise and a cast under active consideration, Nine to Six is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched SBS dramas in development.
Now, let’s see if Go Soo will officially sign on and bring his trademark charisma to the project.
